The Effectiveness of Propecia

Before the approval of any medicine, FDA conducts different kinds of researches and tests.

While testing Propecia for about 1,500 men took part in the two year research. The results were the following: over 80% of people experienced improvement in growth of hair and its density.  So answering the question if Propecia works, the answer will be yes, it works.

Undoubtedly results depend on individual conditions and some men have better results than others. It’s recommended to take the medicine everyday for about 2-3 months before making a decision to continue taking this drug.

One should remember that when you start taking Propecia you will have to continue the treatment during your lifetime. Withdrawal of the medication treatment after hair has started to grow may cause the risk of losing the achieved results.

The male hormone testosterone is a contributing factor in the production of Dihydrotestosterone which can cause hair follicles to function in a wrong way. Propecia prevents formation of Dihydrotestosteron.

One tablet of this medicine contains 1mg of Finasteride. Initially this medication was intended to prevent the appearance of prostate cancer in men. When taking this medication the hair growth was observed. Today Propecia is the brand name of Finasteride that is prescribed for men hair treatment (available from Canadian Online Pharmacy).

This medication is not intended to women’s hair loss treatment. Despite the fact that  ach tablet is coated pregnant women must avoid the contact with this medication. Contact with crushed or broken tablets can cause an abnormal development in unborn male embryos.
Propecia is effective not for all kinds of hair loss, but only for treatment of hair loss on the crown of the head and mid-scalp.

The drug has a number of side effects. Among them are the following:
1. This is a lifelong treatment which involves serious expenses. Furthermore, the possible effects of the long term treatment are not predictable.
2. For about 3% of men experience a sexual dysfunction when taking the medicine. These effects disappear when a patient stops taking the medication.

During the medical researches for about 2% of the men who used the placebo also experienced a sexual dysfunction. That proves that the number of men actually affected is small.

Nowadays there is still no ideal solution for the problem of hair loss. Drugs such as Propecia is one of the best method for hair loss treatment.

Propecia vs Rogaine. Which drug is the best?

Speaking about two medications that are used in hair loss treatment - Propecia and Rogaine, it should be mentioned that they are the only drugs that are approved by FDA. The question is which drug is more efficient?

It’s not so easy to answer this question. Researches have shown that both of the drugs are efficient for many patients but unfortunately not for everybody. So there is no guarantee whether these drugs will help. The difference between these two medications is that Rogaine is not exactly loss hair treatment. It’s applied for hair regrowing.

In comparison with Rogaine, Propecia is more efficient for halting hair loss but its efficiency regarding new hair grow is worse. The best option is to use both drugs at the same time. But it should be mentioned that Propecia is not used by women.

Compounds of Rogaine and Propecia are different. Minoxidil is an ingredient of Rogaine, and  Propecia contains Finasteride. The application of these medications is also different: Propecia is taken as a pill, Rogaine is applied to a scalp.

One more question that must be discussed is the price of these drugs. Both medications are expensive. The only alternative to such king of medications is using generic drugs that consist of the same ingredients but are manufactured by other companies. Such companies are not well-known so the prices of the medications they produce are much lower.

Propecia is a medication that requires a prescription. But nevertheless it’s available online so it’s easy to buy the medicine very quickly without losing your time.
